love bagel treats with peanut butter. Hang the treats outside on a tree when the birds are hungry.

Birdseed treatsHere's what you need to make treats for the birds

Bagels

Peanut butter or thick honey

Birdseed

Cording

Ears of Corn

Medium-weight wire

Red ribbon

Cereal

Dental floss

Sewing needle

Apples

Instructions

To make the bagel treats, cut the bagels in half and spread the cut side with peanut butter or thick honey.

Sprinkle with birdseed.

Thread a short length of cording through the bagel center hole and knot the ends.

Hang securely on the tree.

To make corn treats, wrap wire around the top of the cob, leaving a loop for hanging.

Tie a red ribbon bow to the wire.

To make cereal garlands, cut a long length of dental floss and thread it through a needle.

String dry cereal on the floss.

Group the garlands together when hanging on the tree.

To make an apple treat, cut a short length of wire and fold it in half.

Wrap the loose ends of the wire around the apple stem, leaving a loop for hanging.

Be sure to secure your treats to the tree so the birds can't remove them.

A message from Chico Chihuahua

Hey kids, if you use yarn to hang the treats, the birds will be able to use it in the spring to build their nests.

And if you have any stale bread, use it for a treat just like you used the bagels!

during winter so they can help us by eating spiders and bugs in the summer!
