A treasure chest kept the pirates' plunder safe from other pirates. You can make one. It's easy!
The kids made a using these materials:
Empty kleenex box
Black, red and yellow construction paper
Scissors
Glue
Marker
Chocolate gold pieces
Optional: Sequins, , painted rocks
This how they made it:
1. They covered the kleenex box with black construction paper.
2. They cut around 3 sides of the kleenex box, about an inch from the top (so the chest opens). You will need to bend back the cardboard on the remaining, attached side so the "lid" opens and closes properly.
3. They glued a piece of red construction paper to the inside of the lid and chest.
6. They cut 1/2 inch strips from yellow construction paper and glued them to all the edges of the chest.
7. They glued the lock onto the front.
8. They glued the handles onto the sides of the chest.
Note: Glue , plastic jewels or painted rocks onto the lid. Fill with chocolate gold pieces
Here's an assignment for you from Chico Chihuahua:
If you have a sandbox or flower beds, put it in a plastic bag and bury the chest when no one is watching. If not, just hide it in one of the rooms of the house.
Then draw a , marking the location of the chest with an X. Give the map to your friend and see if your friend can find the buried treasure by following your map!
