Tie dying in reverse makes a cool T-Shirt! Take the color out for a new twist on the technique

makes a cool T-Shirt and jeans! Take the color out for a new twist on the technique.

Here's what you need

Your parent or teacher will have to help you with this craft! Do not try it by yourself. The bleach is dangerous.

It's better to use your old clothing to give them a brand new look!

100% cotton, colored T-shirts, jeans, or socks

Tie Dying in reverse craftLiquid chlorine bleach

Rubber bands and string

Large bucket

Hot water

Rubber gloves

Wooden spoon or stirring stick

Instructions

Kids should do the tying while adults handle the bleach and water solution.

Kids scrunch up parts of the articles of clothing into balls and bind them tightly with rubber bands.

Or, fold the articles of clothing like an accordion and bind them tightly with string at various intervals.

An adult wearing rubber gloves should mix 2 cups of liquid chlorine bleach with a bucket of hot water and place the articles of clothing into the bucket.

Stir the bucket occasionally.

Watch for the color of the clothing to change. Add more bleach if necessary.

The fabric will look more faded when dry.

When satisfied with the look, run the clothing through the washing machine's regular wash and rinse cycles with normal laundry detergent.

Then remove the strings and rubber bands and allow the clothing to dry.

You are stylin'!
