T shirt art hides the stain. Draw a self portrait and save your shirt!

hides the stain. Draw a self portrait and save your shirt!

T Shirt ArtHere's what you need

Stained T Shirt, 100% cotton

Two or more colors of fabric paint in squeeze bottles

Plain drawing paper

Pencil

Carbon transfer paper from the fabric or craft store

Waxed paper or cardboard

Ribbon, buttons, etc.

Instructions

Draw a picture of yourself on the drawing paper.

Place the waxed paper or cardboard between the two layers of the shirt to protect the backside from paint soaking through.

Using the picture of yourself as a guide, lightly copy the drawing onto the shirt with a pencil OR trace the drawing on the shirt using the carbon paper made for embroidery work. The carbon paper lines will wash out.

Try to use the stain on the shirt as part of your picture--like for the eye or nose or under your hair.

Squeeze paint out along the pencil lines and allow each color to dry before using the next color.

When you are done, add the ribbons and barrettes to the hair, bow tie at the neck, buttons on the shirt, etc.

You are stylin'!

A message from Chico Chihuahua

Kids, make me a shirt too! I want my paw prints instead of my portrait on it. Think about how you can do that for me!
