Snow cone crafts in the backyard make it fun to play in the snow!
Hey Mimi, remember the snow cone we sprayed for Chico Chihuahua in the snow last year, in the backyard? The kind we learned about in Park City?
I sure do, says Mimi, Chico really loved it. But do you remember when Snowball, that big white cat that lives next door, jumped over the fence, growled at Chico, and started licking up the snowcone?
He's a very beautiful cat and he has the most beautiful tongue you ever saw, but he's kind of a bully.
I know, replies McAveler. I think Chico was a little bit afraid of him so he just glared at Snowball and then went into the house.
I don't think I ever saw Chico quite so angry before. I told him later that he made a very wise choice not to start a fight with Snowball.
That's right, McAveler. He made a very wise choice. That cat has claws and besides, fighting just makes things worse! Anyway, Chico is now a whole year older and he's not afraid of that big bully anymore!
Here's how the kids made Chico's snow cone in the snow.
What You'll Need:
4 or 5 Spray bottles
Water
Food coloring, 4 or five bright colors
Bucket (optional)
Brushes (optional)
Directions:
Fill up empty spray bottles with water.
Add a tablespoon of food coloring to each bottle, and shake well.
Make at least 4 or 5 colors.
Dress warmly.
Spray a nice, big arch in the snow in your yard or in the park.
Add a second arch underneath the first one.
Keep adding colored arches until you have a semi-circle, all filled in with rainbow colored arches.
Now make a cone shape under the semi-circle.
More Fun:
You can also use paintbrushes and buckets to paint other things around your snowcone. (Like a great big dog to keep Snowball away.)
Add food coloring and water to each bucket and stir it up to make colors.
Then make a by lying on your back in the snow and moving your arms and legs up and down--then paint the snow angel in rainbow colors with your brushes!
Or make a snowman and then paint or spray him with rainbow colors, very cool. Your friends will love it too!
A Warning From Chico Chihuahua
He may try to jump over your fence and lick up your beautiful snow art. If he does, here's a tip. You don't have to fight with him.
He's afraid of spray bottles. One spray in his direction and he's gone!
