Was Jesus born here, McAveler?
Jesus wasn't born in Jerusalem, Mimi. He was born in Bethlehem which means City of Bread in Hebrew. Bethlehem is located about 6 miles to the south of Jerusalem. That is also where King David was born.
So is where the boy David met the the champion of the Philistines, the mighty Goliath, in battle?
No Mimi, that happened in the valley of Elah southwest of Jerusalem.
McAveler, just look at that darling little boy standing over there! It looks like he's about to make an offering to help the poor. I wonder why his parents haven't cut his hair yet?
It's because many Jewish boys don't get their first haircut until the age of three on the holiday of Lag Ba'omer. The first haircut has special meaning in lots of different countries.
Mom saved a lock of my hair when I got my first haircut at two years of age. She said that was when I started to look like a little man instead of a girl.
Yum, yum, exclaims Mimi. Just look at the delicious looking bread that woman is making, McAveler. What is it called?
They call it Challah Bread, Mimi. It's the bread used on the Sabbath and at many festivals.
