A ponytail holder made with safety pins keeps Mimi's long hair safe from tree limbs. They are easy to make and you could make one for your American Girl Dolls as well!

Here's what Mimi used to make a ponytail holder to keep her long hair safe from tree limbs

Colored 2" Safety Pins--18

--20

1 mm Elastic--18"

Here's how to make Mimi's ponytail craft

Ponytail holderCut elastic into 9" lengths.

Tie a pony bead onto the end of each cord to keep safety pins from falling off.

String a closed safety pin onto both cords, one cord through the head and one cord through the loop at the end.

String another safety pin, alternating the way the heads face. This will keep the holder from getting too big on one side.

String a metallic pony bead on each cord.

Continue stringing on two safety pins, a bead, two safety pins, a bead, etc. until it is big enough to go around your ponytail.

Cut off the beginning beads, loop around, bring ends together to form the bracelet.

Tie off with a double knot.

Trim ends.
