Patriotic crafts for your family picnic. Your 4th of July picnic will be even more colorful with patriotic silverware!
Here's what you need to make patriotic silverware
with white handles that you purchase
1/4" wide masking tape
Binder hole reinforcements that you use to keep a page from tearing out of a three ring binder, available at discount and office supply stores
Deco color paint pens available at craft stores
Instructions
Wash the flatware with soap and water and dry thoroughly
Now, do not touch the handles without wearing rubber gloves
To make stripes, wrap pieces of masking tape around the handles
Rub (burnish) the edges of the masking tape to make certain it is fastened tightly to the handle
To make circles, apply the binder reinforcements as you wish
Paint the exposed areas of the handles with the paint pens, stroking the paint only in one direction. If you want some areas to still be white, do not paint them
Allow paint to dry completely
Remove the masking tape and reinforcements
Make any necessary touch-ups using the paint pens

Kids, from now on, this silverware can only be washed by hand.
You can also buy small vinyl lettering to put initials or short messages on the handles.
