Our dad loves that come from the USA but our mom loves salty liquorice that comes from the Nordic countries. She calls it .

What is your favorite, Mimi?

Sometimes I like to gnaw on a regular old piece of , especially if I ever have a sore throat. The little ones taste salty and the thick ones taste sweet!

You never cease to amaze me, sis, says McAveler!

And I never will, replies Mimi.

Here's what Mimi used to make a beautiful potfull of licorice for her dad on Fathers Day

Licorice potA six inch terra cotta flower pot

Large rickrack from the craft store

Tacky glue

Buttons, same color as the acryllic paint

Acryllic paint, same color as the buttons

Paintbrush

Clear cellophane or plastic wrap

Licorice candy, same color as the buttons and paint

Instructions

Glue rickrack around the lip of the pot.

Allow glue to dry.

Glue buttons on top of the rickrack as desired.

Paint vertical stripes or squiggles on the pot.

Let paint dry.

Cut large square of cellophane or plastic wrap and put inside the pot.

Fill the pot with licorice.

For even more fun, add other kinds of candy to the pot.

If you don't want to use buttons, rickrack, and paint, use stickers and labels instead.

If you have a friend that is sick, try filling the pot with cocoa mix, bath oil, and something interesting to read and delivering it to her. You'll both feel much better!
