Ice candles make a "delightful" welcome on a cold, dark winter night!

Ice candles make a "delightful" welcome on a cold, dark winter night! Creating lights in ice is easy and fun to do.

Ice candlesHere's what you need

An empty one-gallon plastic ice cream bucket

Vegetable oil

Votive candle

Instructions

Rub a thin coat of vegetable oil on the inside of the ice cream bucket.

Fill the bucket with water and place it outside in freezing temperatures. If it isn't cold enough, put it in your freezer.

When the water is partly frozen (4 to 5 hours), scoop out a cavity in the middle.

Insert a votive candle in the cavity.

When the ice has frozen solid, remove it from the bucket.

At sunset, light the candle and put it by your front door to welcome your guests.

The flickering glow will add warmth and light to a cold, dark winter night!

To store your candle, leave it outside if the temperature is below freezing. Or put it in your freezer if it isn't freezing cold outside.
