Homemade face paint instead of masks is much safer on Halloween night because kids are less likely to trip on things they can't see
Homemade face paint instead of masks is a really great idea. Masks can cause us to trip on things and can be frightening to preschool children.
This is also fun at birthday parties, a backyard play, or just for playing dress up on a rainy day. Mimi and McAveler learned how to make face paint when they visited Ireland. It's easy and inexpensive. Here's what you need
* 1 teaspoon corn starch * 1/2 teaspoon water * 1/2 teaspoon cold cream * Food coloring in a variety of colors * Small yogurt containers with lids (clean and dry, one for each color of paint) * Small paint brushes Instructions
Stir together the corn starch and cold cream until well blended. Add water and stir. Add food coloring one drop at a time until you get the desired color.
When done, you can remove the paint with soap and water. Store the unused paint in the yogurt containers with the lids tightly closed for next time. Hint from Chico Chihuahua Kids, experiment with the colors by adding more drops of the same or different colors to the paint to create a new shade. Three drops of blue and one drop of green food coloring will make turquoise. Two drops of yellow and one drop of red will create orange. See what new color you can create!
