Healthy Pizza and really delicious is great for Fathers Day. Let's make one for dad on his special day!
McAveler, where did healthy pizza come from?
Well, as early as the 16th century, in Naples, Italy, people ate a flatbread that they called pizza. I don't know how healthy it was.
I wonder if they put anchovies and mushrooms on their pizza?
No, Mimi. It wasn't until the 19th century that people began making pizza kind of like we know it today.
They used tomato, oregano, garlic and on a pizza called the Marinara (or the sailor's wife).
Or they used tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and fresh basil (the colors of Italy) on a pizza called the Margherita.
In cities like New York and San Francisco, pizza was sold on the streets in Italian neighborhoods.
in Chicago, a peddler would walk up and down the street carrying pizzas in a round drum balanced on his head. The drum also contained charcoal from the pizza oven to keep the pizza hot.
Wow, the first pizza delivery, gasped Mimi! That man was a genius!
Yes he was, smiled McAveler.
Here's what Mimi and McAveler needed to make their dad a healthy pizza on Fathers Day
English Muffins
Tomato slices
Tomato paste
Onion rings
Black pepper
Oregano
Part skimmed Mozarella cheese
Mushroom caps
Hot pepper flakes but only if your dad likes them
Instructions
Toast the English muffins under the broiler
Cover each piece with tomato slices, tomato paste, onion rings
Sprinkle with black pepper and oregano
Top with a slice of Mozarella and a mushroom cap
Return to the broiler until the cheese melts and bubbles
Serve piping hot
Ask your dad if he likes hot peppers with his pizza but allow HIM to put on only as much as HE wants
If your dad likes anchovies, you could also add them before putting the pizza under the broiler.

Kids, don't forget to make enough for McAveler. He is the pizza eating machine!
Seriously, too many kids in the United States do not eat enough healthy food and they do not
Be careful and think about how many calories and how much fat you are eating. Don't watch TV-- I myself get plenty of exercise by chasing that cat, Snowball, out of my yard. And
What do you do for exercise?
Here's an assignment, make sure you get at least 30 minutes of exercise every day.
Write down all the exercise you do over the next two days and then show it to your parents and teachers.
