Hans Christian Andersen wrote favorite children's fairy tales like The Ugly Duckling

Hans Christian Andersen HouseMcAveler, was Hans Christian Andersen born in Copenhagen?

No, Mimi. He was born here in the city of Odense, Denmark in 1805. This is where our mom was born, too. Look! There is his house!

He was an insecure person who spent his time traveling. He passed away a wealthy man but, sadly, all alone.

Here and in most nordic countries, they call him HC Andersen. He wrote novels but was most famous for the fairy tales he wrote such as:

Little Match Stick GirlThe Little Match Girl

The Snow Queen

The Steadfast Tin Soldier

Thumbelina

The Red Shoes

The Little Mermaid Here we are, back in Copenhagen again. Look, McAveler, there is the statue of The Little Mermaid sitting on that rock in the harbor! I didn't know she was that small.

Well, they do call her The "Little" Mermaid, Mimi, laughed McAveler!

OK, smarty pants, said Mimi. Hey, let's ask mom and dad to read us the story of The Little Mermaid when we get back home!
