A crazy shirt for Fathers Day will make dad laugh! Learn how easy it is to make a shirt that isn't boooooring!

A crazy shirt craft for gramps!

Hands in a circleHey Mimi, even grampa would be proud to wear

A designer shirt, asked Mimi? Where would we get the money for a designer shirt?

We don't need lots of money, says McAveler. We have us. We are the designers, get it?

I like your "style", cracks Mimi. What are we waiting for? What do we need to become shirt designers?

Here's what McAveler and Mimi needed to make a groovy shirt for grampa and for their dad for Fathers Day

Crazy shirt

or sweatshirts

Aluminum pie plate

Waxed paper or cardboard

All the hands and paws in the family, except dad's and grampa's hands. Fins don't work well.

Instructions

Lay the shirt on a flat work surface and place a piece of waxed paper or cardboard between the two layers of fabric to trap any paint that might seep through.

Mix fabric paint with water, 10 parts paint to 1 part water, in the pie plate.

Place a person's hand or a pet's paw, palm down, into the paint in the pie plate and then guide it to the shirt.

Gently but firmly press the hand or paw down onto the shirt, making sure that the palm and five fingers each make a print.

Lift the hand off the shirt and allow the handprint to dry.

Repeat the process, using someone else's hand or paw and a different color each time.

(Don't forget to wipe their hands and paws clean before they touch or walk on anything!)

Don't forget the baby! You can use the baby's footprint instead of handprint.

If the baby isn't here yet but is coming soon, use the side of someone's hand to make the footprint and add five tiny toes with fingerprints of paint.

Sign your name by your hand or paw print!

This works great on potholders, kitchen towels, or even white hankies, too!

A message from Chico Chihuahua

I can't actually sign my name, having paws and claws instead of real fingers--very good for digging holes in the backyard, not very good for writing. But Mimi was kind enough to sign for me. She is so CUTE!

I was very happy to honor all grampas and dads on their very special day, El Dia De Los Padres.

Try typing in below and see how many you can find for dad!
