Use chocolate leaves to garnish your Irish Dessert Trifle on St Patricks Day or any other special time of the year.
Mimi uses to garnish her Irish Dessert Trifle on St Patricks Day or any other special time of the year. McAveler just eats them up as soon as they are cool! Then licks off his sticky fingers. Poor Chico Chihuahua cannot eat chocolate, ever!
Their mom and dad can't believe how elegant the leaves are and you won't either.
Here's what you'll need
* Leaves (Fresh rose, camellia, mint, gardenia, or lemon)
* 4 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate chips (Keep McAveler out of the chips before hand!)
* Custard dish
* Waxed paper
*Cookie sheet
*Double boiler or microwave
* Raspberries
* Orange rind
* Cherries (Optional)
Instructions
Wash the leaves and dry them well.
Melt chocolate chips in the microwave, stirring twice (about 2-3 mins. on high setting). Or, melt on top of the stove in a double boiler.
Allow chocolate to cool slightly until it is comfortable to touch.
Place waxed paper on cookie sheet.
Dip the veined side of each leaf into the chocolate, using the stem as a handle. Do not get chocolate on the other side of the leaf.
Lay the leaf on the waxed paper, chocolate side up. Continue the process until all the leaves are covered.
Place leaves in the refrigerator for 20-30 mins., until the chocolate is firm.
Remove from refrigerator and slowly peel the leaves off the chocolate.
Arrange the leaves in clusters on your dessert. Add raspberries, orange rind or cherries to complete your garnish.
