Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah is a very large private university with superb academic, religious, and athletics standards.
Here is how Mimi and McAveler decided to visit Brigham Young University or BYU.
Mimi, what do you want to do when you grow up, asked McAveler?
I don't want to raise onions and I don't want to vacuum stairways!
No no, I mean what do you want to do to earn a living?
I want to drive one of those big machines that swings the heavy ball and knocks down buildings, gleamed Mimi!
Very cool, says McAveler! And I want to be a scientist. I want to invent new and better materials that make exciting new products that protect our environment from harm.
That means you need to attend college somewhere, McAveler. Where would you like to go?
Remember Brad and Paul, the twins from my class at school? Their dad is a scientist and he went to Brigham Young University.
And Brad and Paul's big sisters always attend something during the summer at BYU they call Especially For Youth. They say it's fantastic fun.
I've been thinking that BYU might be a good place for me to go.
Say, who was this Brigham Young, anyway, mused Mimi? Why would you want to attend there, McAveler? It's a long ways from our home.
Well, Brad and Paul's dad says the students there are very serious about getting a great education and being good citizens.
That's the way I want to be.
And besides, they have a great football program at BYU and you know how much I love football!
Aha! I know how much you love mom's famous football cookies, exclaims Mimi!
So football is really why you are so interested, says Mimi. Aren't you a little young to be worrying about such things already, McAveler?
I'm not getting any younger! I'm eleven already, Mimi! And I want to make the right choices for my life.
Good point, McAveler, agrees Mimi. I know, why don't we jump to visit BYU? If We leave now, we can be back home before Jujitsu class begins this evening.
Great idea, Mimi! OK, hold onto my hand. Let's jump to BYUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuu...........!!!
