An American Girl Doll head band you can make for your doll. You can make one for yourself too and be twins!
This American Girl Doll craft is a fun head band that girls can make for their dolls. Or you can , explains Mimi.
You can also make child sized head bands too to match your Doll. This is a super fun activity for a girl's slumber party!
To Make A Head Band You Will Need:
Ribbon
Elastic Thread
Beads
Scissors
Needle
Thread
To get started
Take a length of ribbon and wrap it around the doll's head where you want the head band to go. Mark how long this is.
Next, cut two pieces of ribbon to this length plus about 1 inch.
Lay one piece of ribbon flat on a table. Cut a length of the elastic ribbon to one half of this length.
With your fabric glue, make a thin line along each long edge of the ribbon.
Tips
Put the glue slightly in from the edge and make the line of glue as thin as impossible. When you press the second ribbon on top, you do not want the excess glue to squeeze out.
Now lay the second ribbon on top and press the two together to make the tunnel of the American Girl Doll head band craft.
Fold the ends in before gluing, this will make a nice finshed edge on the ribbons.
Once the glue dries, thread the elastic ribbon through the tunnel. Use an upholstery needle if necessary. Use needle and thread to sew each end of the elastic ribbon to the ends of the tunnel ribbons. This will scrunch the head band.
Sew the two ends of the tunnel ribbon together with needle and thread. Add a decorative button and beads or sparkling jewels as well.
If you , you can to join the two edges of the tunnel ribbons instead of the glue. This will be faster and much stronger. But a heavy duty fabric glue will work if you let it dry for 24 hours.
Try decorating one of the ribbons beforehand with buttons, beads, and fabric paint. You can decorate one length of the head band. This will be the top side of the craft once assembled.
You can get really creative using decorative ribbons, beads, and paints!
